Speaktoit iPhone Application New Voice Software For iPhone 4S
By Rachel Ramsey, TMCnet Contributor
Already, Siri isn’t the only one of its kind. The voice recognition software that comes supplied with the iPhone (News - Alert) 4S has met its newest match, the Speaktoit application.
The new Speaktoit application for the iPhone 4S uses the famous Dragon Dictation voice recognition software to ensure that the software can easily respond to questions regardless of regional accents. The Dragon Dictation is an easy-to-use voice recognition application powered by Dragon NaturallySpeaking that allows users to easily speak and instantly see texts or email messages. It’s up to five times faster than typing on a keyboard.
Interactive voice response automates interactions with telephone callers. Modern IVR solutions also enable input and responses to be gathered via spoken words with voice recognition. Plum Voice is one provider of IVR platforms, offering a rare combination of communication platforms and technology based on the open standard programming language VoiceXML (News - Alert).
Speaktoit takes the form of a cartoon character on the screen and a large microphone icon is located beneath it. Once a question has been asked, it appears on the screen in a similar format to how SMS message conversations appear.
Unlike similar applications, this new software does more than simply search the web for answers to questions; it interacts with a large number of the native applications found on the iPhone. Users can post social networking updates, compose emails, and check directions.
In related news, University of Utah students in an iPhone/iPad programming class will showcase their apps during Mobile Application Demo Day on Tuesday, April 24. Lorenzo Swank, a Ph.D. student and instructor of the class, said one of the most interested iPad apps “expands the functionality of the organs on Temple Square and in the Conference Center” at the Salt Lake City headquarters of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
