Voxeo's Prophecy Foresees Speech, IVR, VoIP Apps

By David Sims, TMCnet Contributing Editor

Voxeo's (News - Alert) Prophecy, described by company officials as a standards-based platform for speech, IVR, and SIP VoIP applications, is a telephony application platform software offering "enterprise-class features with retail like simplicity."

Also, since its an openly available, single download product with no configuration required - just one download includes speech recognition, speech synthesis, and the company's designer visual development tool.

The product includes functionality needed to create and deploy IVR or VoIP applications, including full VoiceXML (News - Alert) and CCXML browsers with high-quality speech recognition and synthesis engines, a built-in SIP soft-phone, and support for hundreds of SIP providers and devices.

According to Voxeo officials, Prophecy also works with any Web development language or server including ASP, CGI (News - Alert), C#, Java, PERL, PHP, Python, and Ruby, and has a built-in web server that supports PHP and Java applications as well.

Saying the product is "100 percent standards based," company officials also note that Prophecy includes a VoiceXML browser to pass 100 percent of the mandatory and optional VoiceXML compliance tests, and includes a CCXML implementation.

Prophecy is free for two ports (two concurrent calls) and $249 for four ports (four concurrent calls).

Company officials also tout Prophecy's comprehensive analytics, explaining that Prophecy 10 bundles the capabilities of VoiceObjects (News - Alert) Analyzer, including built-in VoiceObjects Analyzer reports for any existing VoiceXML application.

"Enterprises can access 30 additional reports by adding analytics notations to existing VoiceXML applications," Voxeo officials say, adding that VoiceObjects Analyzer also integrates with business intelligence from SAP BusinessObjects, IBM (News - Alert) Cognos and Microstrategy.

Prophecy 10 can run up to 100 concurrent calls on Intel Atom based servers, and up to 500 calls on a typical Windows Linux, or Mac OS X server. Prophecy 10 is also a 64-bit enabled VoiceXML and speech recognition platform.

It's being marketed as a way to reduce overhead as well, as it "includes separate developer and deployment modes that significantly reduce the memory and CPU overhead of a Prophecy installation," company officials say.
