By Paula Bernier, Executive Editor, IP Communications Magazines

WiFi for the Nexus One phone has arrived. Truphone today announced it is the first to offer this capability for the Google-branded Android (News - Alert) phone.

This feature is a function of version 3.0.2 of the Truphone for Android application, which is now available in the Android Market at no fee.
In addition to free WiFi calls, this release enables low-cost international calls and instant-messaging and is simple to install. According to Truphone (News - Alert), this functionality will save Android users money when calling friends abroad, whether or not they are connected to WiFi.
The new release also is compatible with the T-Mobile (News - Alert) Pulse.
Truphone for Android works with the HTC G1, HTC Magic, HTC Hero and the Nexus One Compatibility with other Android models with firmware 1.5 or above, including the Motorola (News - Alert) Droid, is in the pipeline, according to Truphone.
