Norwalk, Conn., (Jan. 12, 2010) — Technology Marketing Corporation (News - Alert), a leading global media company, today announced in partnership with the organizers of StartupCamp Telephony and The Cloud Communications Summit to jointly host the ITEXPO (News - Alert) Voice Application Contest, an new opportunity for developers to expose innovative applications built on market leading voice platforms.

According to TMC’s CEO, Rich Tehrani, communications is experiencing a revolution, led by innovative developers deserving of recognition.

“The voice services world as we know it is in a revolutionary state of change, thanks to the arrival of open development platforms, the rapid evolution of the 'cloud', and of course many innovative developers and entrepreneurs leveraging these advancements to deploy applications. This contest will help punctuate the momentum in this movement,” Tehrani said.

One application from each of the participating vendors – Broadsoft, CloudVox, Twilio and Voxeo – will be presented by a panel during the Cloud Communications Summit at ITEXPO on Jan. 20, and an overall contest winner will be selected and presented the evening of Jan. 21at the inaugural StartupCamp Telephony event. Both events are taking place as part of TMC’s 10th annual ITEXPO conference, Jan. 20-22 at the Miami Beach Convention Center in Miami, Florida.

“It’s become about more than the mash-up in voice; it’s about building business solutions to problems that, without these platforms, would otherwise be very complex to solve,” said Thomas Howe (News - Alert), Cloud Communications Summit leader.

Additionally, Larry Lisser, StartupCamp Telephony organizer said that entrepreneurs are enjoying opportunities never seen in voice before, those being to rapidly deploy features, products or entire companies by leveraging these platforms. 

“This is not a competition between platform vendors, but rather an effort to continue to grow this community as a whole,” Lisser added.
