Call Genie Enters into Agreement with StatsFone
By Anil Sharma, TMCnet Contributor
Call Genie Inc. has reportedly entered into an agreement with 970198 Alberta Ltd. (StatsFone), a Calgary-based Voice XML/TTS software development company, to provide a unique application in which sports fans can call and vote for player of the game, and receive ads and coupons through the caller experience.
According to a press release, the company initially will be providing a hosting facility and a voice portal access solution for StatsFone to install, configure, run and maintain the application.
Company officials said the initial rollout will allow fans watching televised hockey games to call and vote for the player of the game using nothing but their voice.
"Our agreement with Call Genie (News - Alert) offers StatsFone expanded voice portal capacity and improved access to the US market", said Gordon Wilson, president of StatsFone, in the release.
Wilson said that a recent testing of the StatsFone application with a Canadian NHL team was very successful and as the company grows and expands to other North American sports teams and markets it will need the expertise and expansion capabilities offered by Call Genie.
"We are very excited to see our solutions continue to enable applications targeted at the entertainment industry," said Michael Durance (News - Alert), CEO of Call Genie.
Call Genie is a global provider of local mobile search and advertising solutions that connect ready to transact consumers directly with local merchants for local directory businesses, directory assistance services and local media publishers.
Call Genie says its solutions offer an exceptional experience for both advertisers and consumers and are deployed in 11 countries around the world.
In September Call Genie had announced that it has entered into a three-year agreement with Endemol (News - Alert) USA Inc. (Endemol) and NBC Universal Domestic Television Distribution (NBC) for a consumer-oriented local search sweepstakes platform for the hit syndicated game show “Deal or No Deal.”
Call Genie will develop, manage and promote “Deal Mania,” a consumer-oriented sweepstakes contest in the syndicated episodes of “Deal or No Deal” and will apply its technology components to leverage the brand and campaign across a multi-platform strategy.
