Ribbit For Oracle CRM Now In Beta
By David Sims, TMCnet Contributing Editor
Ribbit, a BT (News - Alert) company into communication services, has reportedly announced that its Ribbit for Oracle (News - Alert) CRM On Demand is now available via a public beta.
In 2008, Ribbit (News - Alert), an open platform for communications voiceware apps, was selected as a participant in the Oracle Inner Circle Program. Ribbit for Oracle connects mobile phone, Oracle CRM On Demand and e-mail with voice to text conversion.
Officials at Ribbit said that customers who use CRM to manage their business are "becoming even more dependent on" -- read: addicted to -- "mobile devices," so in their view it's "imperative that these sales and service organizations are empowered with technology to sell more and type less."
"Sell More, Type Less" -- this reporter doesn't know a single sales pro who can't get behind that slogan.
With the Ribbit for Oracle product, calls, voicemail and voice memos flow into Oracle CRM On Demand along with text transcriptions. Users call in notes rather than type them. Inbound voice messages are organized into a user's CRM application so they can be managed like e-mail, "without wasting time dialing in to listen or worrying about messages being deleted."

Recently, TMCnet had the news that Ribbit announced its conferencing and voice message gadgets were selected as featured extensions for Google Wave. Built using a mash-up of the Ribbit REST API and the Google (News - Alert) Wave APIs, the two extensions are meant to enable rich, dynamic voice collaborations for participants within a live Google Wave environment.
The first featured gadget is Ribbit Conference, which "enables real-time audio collaboration between participants in a wave," company officials said at the time.
Ribbit's Conference gadget turns a wave into an actual conference where people can talk as well as type. "Persistent in the wave," Ribbit officials say, it "allows any participant to create an audio connection with multiple Google Wave participants, add non-Wave participants to the session and mute, hold or disconnect any of the individual participants from the stream."
