TAAP Debuts Card Payment Transaction Feature for Mobile Devices
By Shamila Janakiraman, TMCnet Contributor
TAAP, a provider of software solutions that helps organizations implement operations using mobile hand held devices, reportedly announced the release of its new card payment transaction feature for Windows Mobile devices.
The new ‘TAAP Transaction’ system allows card payments to be processed on devices without magnetic-swipe card readers or the use of chip and pin technology, company officials said.
The security of the information is enhanced as it is sent via Merchant Services Gateways using 256 bit SSL encryption. Also the TAAP system does not store card details eliminating threats to information security. The user has to enter details of the customer’s card, transaction amount, and optional mobile telephone number for SMS receipt followed by submission of the information to access the Merchant Services Gateway (News - Alert).
After authorization, transactions are carried out in real-time and customers will also receive an SMS receipt if opted for within seconds of authorization.
Windows Mobile devices with styluses support signature capture which allows customers to sign for a transaction. Card transactions are more convenient for customers and businesses, which do not want to spend money on expensive card payment processing devices like in the case of taxi companies.
TAAP also provides access to a secure Web site which allows viewing and downloading of transaction logs. Payment details can be downloaded as a .csv file which can be imported into accounting or bookkeeping systems.
Company sources said that Merchant Service Gateways are currently available for users of HSBC and Barclaycard and other services can also be set-up in case customers desire to use a different provider.
Invoicing is also allowed by the application where transaction details are transposed into customized invoice templates. These can then be converted to PDF files and emailed to customers. Transactions details can be sent easily without re-keying information and it also eliminates the need for an accounts package to process invoices.
The TAAP Transaction application can be integrated with other TAAP products like TAAP Data Capture, TAAP Field Force, TAAP Exman and with existing back-office systems.
