InterSystems Corporation Completes Multiple Enhancements To InterSystems Ensemble Rapid Integration And Development Platform
By Calvin Azuri, TMCnet Contributor
InterSystems Corporation has completed multiple enhancements to its InterSystems Ensemble rapid integration and development platform. Ensemble is used to develop and integrate mission-critical applications, leverage previous software investments through composite applications and also to establish an enterprise service bus or SOA infrastructure. InterSystems are well known for developing integration, database and business intelligence products.
The enhancements completed extend Ensemble’s ability to connect systems across the enterprise, provide additional services for development and testing of EDI/messaging applications and also to improve message handling performance.
Ensemble-based projects are deployed in organizations in industries like healthcare, government and financial services where reliability and high performance are important. In fact, KLAS Enterprises has ranked Ensemble number one for interface engines for the last three years.
The enhancements done to Ensemble include enhanced .NET (News - Alert) Support, message edit/resend and improved reporting. The extended .NET Gateway of Ensemble provides organizations with improved control over instantiation and manipulation of .NET framework components. This in turn enables developers to rapidly build composite applications that involve .NET elements.
The message edit/resend enhancement provides Ensemble’s message delivery platform with analytical interfaces for tracing message flow from system to system. This enables users to identify failed messages, edit messages and resend/redirect messages to the appropriate recipient. This feature is quite useful in dynamic environments where systems communicating through HL7 messages continually move between online/offline modes.
Ensemble also includes automatic access to InterSystems’ enhanced Zen Reports which is an extensible framework for generating reports in XHTML or .PDF formats. Zen Reports now supports use of external XML data sources and XSL style sheets, conditional report elements and styles.
The new feature set enables faster creation of reports based on data stored in Ensemble’s embedded CACHÉ database and improved management of the report creation process through use of style sheets.
Along with enhancements, Ensemble has also included new services that enable developers to test transmission of multiple EDI documents that include HL7 and X12 messages represented as Ensemble virtual documents. The virtual documents are utilized to compactly describe the EDI document and transmit it to recipients rapidly.
In addition, due to improvements in areas like SOAP, XML and HL7v2 message processing, Ensemble handles message processing around 30 percent faster.
