Updates To GooSync Cloud Storage Application Now Available

By Calvin Azuri, TMCnet Contributor

The GooSync cloud storage application from Toffa International has been updated with upgraded infrastructure, a new helpdesk feature and enhanced scalability. GooSync provides synchronization between Google's (News - Alert) Google Calendar and mobile devices like mobile phones and PDAs. Toffa International develops synchronization software for mobile devices.

Cloud storage applications are gaining popularity as more businesses and consumers start to ground themselves in this data accessing, management and editing strategy. GooSync ties in with personal management systems in mobile phones and PDAs, thereby extending Google calendar to a user’s mobile device.

The Google calendar can be accessed via a mobile phone's Web browser. GooSync delivers a seamless service, regardless of whether someone chooses the basic, free option or the premium account's more expanded features.

GooSync is a server based synchronization service that allows a user to synchronize almost any mobile device over-the-air with his Google Calendar, tasks and contacts. GooSync uses an open standard called SyncML (Synchronization Markup Language) designed for platform-independent information synchronization. A user will be able to synchronize his mobile device to GooSync over-the-air using GPRS or via Wi-fi.

According to Chris Jukes, CEO of Toffa and GooSync, with GooSync, Toffa International provides everyone with something that is free and simple to use. A premium option has also been set up that delivers access to many more features like synchronizing multiple calendars, contacts directly with Gmail, and tasks to the GooSync inbuilt tasks application.

GooSync also supports features like autosync and multiple device support. Jukes also added that since GooSync is based on the SyncML data protocol, most phones will have no problem incorporating either the basic or premium account. The success of GooSync can be attributed to the secure, hassle free experience it provides to its users, as well as the fact that it's applicable to everyone.

A GooSync account can be set up through the official GooSync website. GooSync will work on devices that are SyncML compliant, including the most recent Nokia, Sony Ericsson (News - Alert) and Motorola phones. It also works with Windows Pocket PC, Windows SmartPhone, Palm OS, Treo, BlackBerry and Apple iPhone by installing a SyncML client. Personal information will be protected by incorporating industry standard, data encryption and secure storage. It is even possible to restore all data, in the event that a device is stolen or damaged.
