Salient Networks Selects Voice Mobility as Best in Class UC Platform
By Susan J. Campbell, TMCnet Contributing Editor
Voice Mobility International Inc., a developer and provider of carrier and enterprise unified communication solutions, has announced that its certified partner, Salient Networks, a major reseller of Avaya and Cisco solutions, has selected Voice Mobility’s (News - Alert) Vmerge Unified Communication solution as a best in class platform to offer its nationwide messaging customers.
"Salient Networks was one of the first VMX / Octel business partners and systems integrators in the western United States," said Mac Clarke, President and CEO of Salient Networks, in a Friday statement.
"We are a recognized specialist in the voice messaging industry. We have experienced our fair share of unified communication messaging solutions, but few, if any that rival the product line from Voice Mobility".
By offering solutions developed for Linux and Windows environments that can realistically scale to 1.5M users and more than 6,000 ports, Voice Mobility is addressing a growing global need. While it was originally developed for the central office and hosted/managed care environments, the UCN (News - Alert) 250 fits perfectly as a replacement for Avaya Octel servers.
The Vmerge Windows based solution is positioned as the perfect solution for those companies that seek next generation functionality like presence, instant messaging, computer telephony interface, speech recognition and auto attendance without the need to upgrade to Microsoft (News - Alert) LCS IBM Sametime environments.

"When we identified Voice Mobility's solutions could provide a comprehensive unified communication messaging solution in a fully redundant, centralized configuration, we knew that Voice Mobility was the best solution for supporting our customer's requirements for legacy voicemail replacement, site consolidation and unified communication applications" noted Murphy Clarke, Salient Networks VP of Sales, in the Friday statement.
One of Salient’s largest customers recently issued a request for proposal to replace their OCtel 250/350 and Cisco (News - Alert) Unity voice messaging systems in more than 70 locations. The client’s goal was to flatten and consolidate the existing systems and bring all messaging traffic back to a centralized / redundant cluster.
Salient conducted a comprehensive review of all unified communications technologies available and decided to bid the Voice Mobility Vmerge solution in order to support the client’s ultimate goal of integrating their multi-vendor PBXs back to a centralized, redundant unified communication solution installed in two of its geographical redundant data centers.
"We were very pleased when we were notified that Salient Networks had won this major award for voicemail replacement and a unified communication solution", said Mike Seeley, VP of Sales for Voice Mobility, in the Friday statement.

"We were even more pleased that the customer is PG&E (News - Alert), the nation's largest utility company based in California. Our solutions are built for customers just like PG&E. Multiple locations, multiple switch types and the need to consolidate and flatten their network ultimately won us the business. I'd like to thank the Salient and Voice Mobility teams for doing a wonderful job in representing the solution to the customer."
This latest win for Salient not only helps to further the company’s position in the market, it also strengthens its partnership with Voice Mobility. As the customer is PG&E, this win is significant for both Salient and Voice Mobility. Both companies should be able to leverage this win to strive for greater market share.
As unified communications continue to gain in adoption, companies are seeking to partner with those proven providers that can deliver what they need. Voice Mobility and Salient Networks are proving their worth in this segment of the market, capitalizing on opportunities with aggressive strategies.
