Plantronics Rolls Out New Voyager PRO Bluetooth Headset

By Jyothi Shanbhag, TMCnet Contributing Editor

Plantronics, Inc. has unveiled its new Voyager PRO Bluetooth headset (pictured below), which features Plantronics’ (News - Alert) new AudioIQ2 signal processing system for optimal noise and wind cancellation and what it calls rich, natural inbound audio.

The Plantronics Voyager PRO, a next version of Voyager 510 Bluetooth headset, is designed for mobile professionals who need all-day wearing comfort as well as audio wherever they are working.

Built with WindSmart technology, the new Voyager PRO comes with dual external stainless steel microphone screens and acoustic fabrics that surround the microphones together provide substantial physical barriers to wind noise. At the same time, the AudioIQ2 DSP algorithms intelligently decipher user’s voice from the wind to deliver clear sound to their listener.

It includes a custom speaker that provides full-spectrum audio so conversations are richer and more vibrant. The adaptive 20-band equalizer delivers distortion-free audio and works with AudioIQ2 to automatically adjust sound levels based on the noise level around to ensure maximum audibility.

“Plantronics is singularly focused on one thing: the headset perfected. With the Plantronics Voyager PRO we set out to engineer a high-performance headset for today’s professional user who not only demands unparalleled sound quality on both sides of call, but also insists on comfort and usability,” said Renee Niemi, vice president and general manager of the Plantronics Mobile and Entertainment Division.

Mobile users can wear it behind-the-ear which is perfectly counterbalanced, so that the weight is distributed evenly, rendering it virtually weightless when worn, says the company. The Voyager PRO ear tip is made of soft silicone for an optimal fit and features a “sound channel” that helps distribute audio evenly to the ear.

The Voyager PRO also features voice prompts for low battery warnings and mute status and is accustomed with lithium polymer battery that provides up to six hours of continuous talk time and five days of stand-by time.

The Plantronics Voyager PRO is available now for $99.99 from Best Buy retail shops and BestBuy.com, but will also be available from Plantronics.com and other U.S. retailers starting in late May. It will be available in Asia starting in June and in Europe in July.
