Optus Set to Launch SpinVox-Powered Voicemail to Text Service

By Anuradha Shukla, TMCnet Contributor

SpinVox has announced that its Voicemail to Text service will be launched with Australian carrier Optus later this year.

Christina Domecq, co-founder and CEO of SpinVox (News - Alert) noted that this service will enable Optus customers to enjoy a real visible voicemail experience.

Implemented as a carrier-class cloud service, SpinVox can quickly convert incoming voicemails to text messages and delivers them as an SMS to the subscriber’s mobile phone. With this capability, users can discretely view the content of voicemails without having to dial-in and listen to the message.

Also, because the SpinVox Voicemail to Text service allows the customers to receive the message as an SMS text, customers are free from having to write down important information and have the added ability to save and forward texts.

In addition, since a caller’s number is also included, users can easily reply with a voice call or text message using click to call or SMS functionality.

SpinVox-powered voicemail to text service is gaining popularity in Australia. Telstra launched its Voice2Text service to its business users in November 2007, and rolled out the service to its consumer base in February 2009. Optus is the second carrier to launch a SpinVox-powered voicemail to text service in Australia and intends to reveal the prices and details for the service at launch.

Domecq informed that this contract adds to the SpinVox users across five continents that are already enjoying the power of reading their voice messages.

“Automatic conversion of voice to text is a truly exciting category of voice services which is spreading across the globe at an impressive rate and is now the fastest growing network service since SMS,” said Domecq.

SpinVox recently partnered with IBM for the Software as a Service (SaaS (News - Alert)) Specialty program to deliver its global speech cloud services. The voice to content messaging company deploys its speech-to-text services as a managed service from SpinVox’s data centers which are built on IBM (News - Alert) servers, storage and middleware products.
