Farelogix CEO, Jim Davidson commented, "Most people agree that we need faster speed to market and greater innovation when it comes to solutions for buying and selling travel. But we as an industry will never get there if everybody keeps their systems closed and proprietary."
"At Farelogix, we believe the open source model is a key to increasing the speed, quality and cost-effectiveness with which new point of sale alternatives are brought to market. Hawkeye is our contribution to that effort," said Davidson.
Hawkeye uses an object-oriented and multi-tier architecture using Microsoft ASP.NET, C#, AJAX, JavaScript, CSS (News - Alert), and XML. Multiple Web browsers are supported including Microsoft Internet Explorer 7.0 or greater, Mozilla Firefox 2.0 or greater, Apple Safari, and Google Chrome. Data is accessed through Web services with a rich XML Schema (News - Alert) design to support complex shopping, booking and reservation management.
The company said that it intends to publish quarterly new releases of Hawkeye to incorporate best of breed development from the Hawkeye community.
