iPhone Developers to Receive $1000 from Ifbyphone

By Michelle Robart, TMCnet Editor

Ifbyphone, a company that provides Web integrated IVR solutions to small- and medium-sized businesses (SMBs), today revealed that iPhone (News - Alert) developers will soon be compensated for all their efforts for driving innovations with their own economic stimulus package.

The most ingenious iPhone application developers will each receive $1,000 from Ifbyphone (News - Alert) for the created of an Ifbyphone-to–iPhone mashup that is selected and released by Ifbyphone on the iTunes App Store.

Ifbyphone CEO Irv Shapiro (News - Alert) explained that the stimulus packages were put together in an effort to boost developers’ morale.

“We want to empower developers, so rather than hope that other stimulus packages would prop them up, we decided to use a direct stimulus approach of our own,” said Shapiro. “With the release of our iPhone template, we’ve taken iPhone application development to a new level. Offering this opportunity is an enticement for developers to test their high-impact ideas on our already-proven iPhone platform.”

Ifbyphone previously introduced two iPhone Apps on the iTunes App Store. These included a voice broadcasting application that allows an iPhone user to schedule and deliver voice messages to multiple contacts and a conference-calling application that initiates last minute or scheduled conference calls.

In order to be considered, developers can submit an application to Ifbyphone through April 30, 2009.

Apps do not need to be complete and fully tested, however they must be working prototypes that provide modern calling features to consumers and/or integrate telephony into other Web services and applications.

Ifbyphone will choose the best candidates from submitted designs, finish development and testing, and then make the app or apps available in the iTunes App Store. Similar to other Ifbyphone iPhone apps, the company hopes to offer these apps for free.

The complete program details are currently available online, as well as the tools needed to begin development.

Ifbyphone's developer bulletin board recently underwent a massive redesign and now operates as a discussion center for the API and iPhone development tools.

“We’re hopeful that a broad spectrum of developers will give our tools a look and put their creativity to work,” said Shapiro.

Ifbyphone will be announcing this program at upcoming conferences in an effort to attract the most innovative iPhone developers.

The company recently provided Batteries Plus with a toll-free Store Locator application that routes callers based on their needs and location. Customers are directed to the nearest retail store of their choice, product shoppers are given direct access to product support experts, and prospective franchisees are quickly connected to the corporate franchising department.

“It’s the call-routing solution we’ve been seeking to connect Batteries Plus customers all over the country to their nearest Battery Experts every time, all the time,” said Russ Reynolds, CEO of Batteries Plus.

“Our off-the-shelf technologies were chosen to provide the backbone of the operational component—our IVR handles the initial customer choices, and our Store Locator application helps direct retail customers to their nearest store,” said Ifbyphone’s Shapiro.

Ifbyphone is a telephone automation application company that provides SMBs with the necessary tools to enhance customer conversations, increase sales and lower costs.

Taking full advantage of Ifbyphone's usability, developers and marketers are able to quickly develop solutions that range from simple click-to-call links to call routing and interactive-marketing systems.
