Q&A with Ruben Maury, VP of IT, Ryla

By Rich Tehrani, President and Editor-in-Chief

Ryla provides integrated customized solution to those looking for solutions by utilizing state of the art components such as ACD, IVR, Messaging Applications, Digital Recording/QA, Outbound Predictive Dialing, Text-to-Speech technologies and multi-channel applications.

Ruben Maury, VP of Information Technology, has over 15 years of experience in multiple roles in the contact center industry, including Sales Support, Project Management, Technical Support and Management. Ruben is responsible for various IT related functions including leading the PC Help Desk, Networking and managing the Telephone Systems.

I had the chance to speak with Mr. Maury about the industry, Ryla and TMC’s (News - Alert) ITEXPO being held in Miami Beach Convention Center in Miami, Florida:

What excites you most about our industry?

The opportunities that exist for going far beyond the types and quality level of customer contact solutions that are available from most service providers today and having the opportunity to be a leader in bringing overseas jobs back to the US in this sector.

What pain does your company take away for customers?

We take away the pain of conflict resolution and the dissemination of dissatisfaction. Ryla has the ability to communicate effectively in building and rebuilding relationships on their behalf.

How did your company get to where it is and where is it headed?

Ryla got where it is by paying attention to detail, quality and customer satisfaction.
We’re headed for establishing a solid foothold as one of the best in providing customer contact for companies that lead their industries.

How has open-source changed our space and what more can it do for us?

It has expanded platforms with stable code more quickly than without open-source. And it has enabled collaboration on a broader level that reaches outside of corporate walls without jeopardizing confidentiality and security.

Is the green movement dead now that oil is plummeting in cost?

No – there is much more to green diverting the cost implications of oil. The state that we’re creating on our planet involves how we use paper, how we dispose of trash and garbage, the chemicals we expel from our homes and businesses – and vehicles, the impact we as individuals and groups of people leave in the areas that we inhabit. Actually plummeting oil costs have little to do with it, from our perspective.

How does IP communications help in a recession?

IP communications is cheaper – it is a newer technology that is growing and whose companies are on more of a growth path than traditional communications companies.

You are speaking at ITEXPO which takes place Feb 2-4 2009 in Miami. Why do people need to hear what you say, live and in person?

Ryla is an interesting company with a forward-thinking leadership group that has bridled tremendous success in its comparatively short lifetime. We’ve thoroughly researched the processes and methodologies supporting our success and that is something for others who want to mirror success to take note of.

Rich Tehrani is President and Group Editor-in-Chief of TMC. In addition, he is the Chairman of the world’s best-attended communications conference, INTERNET TELEPHONY Conference & EXPO (ITEXPO (News - Alert)). He is also the author of his own communications and technology blog.
