Openlane Enhances Online Vehicle Logistics for Greater Efficiency

By Rajani Baburajan, TMCnet Contributing Editor

Openlane, an online auction company for automobiles, announced enhancements to its CarsArrive transportation network to enable faster delivery and improve tracking process of vehicles.

The advanced vehicle transportation network, an integration of CarsArrive with Openlane’s online vehicle auction, features the ability to track vehicle locations and delivery status in real-time through Web-based and Interactive Voice Recognition (IVR) technologies.

The new tightly integrated platform that is designed to streamline vehicle transport process helps the company optimize transport loads by matching truck capacity with available local freight to maximize the efficiency of each vehicle shipment as it is dispatched.

Openlane acquired vehicle shipping company CarsArrive Network last year with an aim to provide an end-to-end solution to vehicle buyers and sellers so that they don’t have to make third party arrangements to move vehicles.

“Openland and its CarsArrive transportation network enables me to increase my efficiency as a carrier and continues to make my job easier on a daily basis,” says Eddie Vaughn, a car carrier in Kansas City, Missouri.

“Not only is the site easy to use, but I can now optimize every load our trucks carry because we can match our truck capacity with the vehicles that are available locally,” said Vaughn. “It has made our shipping process infinitely more efficient and more affordable, particularly in an economy like this.”

Openlane carries out the entire vehicle transport process, including electronic uploading of vehicle information, consolidated views of bulk load status and real-time updates and alerts of vehicle location. Openlane also helps its customers manage damage claims and provide competitive market estimates for dealers and guaranteed payment for carriers.

“By offering a complete transportation solution powered by technology, Openlane is able to both stay ahead of the industry standard and offer a more timely and cost-efficient way for our vehicles to go door-to-door,” said Clive Kinross, president of Openlane, in a statement.
