By Rahul Arora, TMCnet Contributor
Wavelink Corporation’s Speakeasy voice solution is now available with new features that provide greater flexibility and further accuracy to voice recognition while increasing speed of implementation. The enhancement follows the recent introduction of Wavelink Terminal Emulation 7.3 with enhancements to the Speakeasy (News - Alert).
Still a speaker-independent solution, Speakeasy now allows users to train the speech-to-text engine to their particular voice and speech patterns. Wavelink Avalanche will save and manage the voice training as a voice profile, allowing users to login to any device. Users can also choose a voice training profile.
"Wavelink Speakeasy makes it easier than ever for IT departments to add voice support to their web and terminal emulation applications and for users to become proficient in voice-enabled data entry," said Mikkel Storm, Wavelink senior product manager, in a press release. "With the new voice engine, voice training and noise adaptation, we are seeing a 20 to 30 percent improvement in accuracy. In addition, the ability for a user's optional profile to follow them from device to device provides greater flexibility."
Speakeasy’s new monitoring and diagnostics tools also allow users to easily calibrate the speech recognition engine for their particular hardware and environment. With a real-time speech confidence level, viewer can allow users to diagnose the cause of inaccuracies in recognition. Moreover, a speech status indicator ensures users are speaking when the speech engine is listening.
To improve the efficiency for users providing voice input, administrators can use the Wavelink Terminal Emulation Screen Reformatter, and can designate specific fields for speech-to-text and text-to-speech entry. The administrators can also tailor the user interface to specific users or applications.
Wavelink is offering a free webinar, "Adding Voice Just Got Easier," to discuss the capabilities of Speakeasy and the benefits of voice-enabling applications. It is scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 10, 2011 at 1 p.m. EST.
