Vibes Media Offers Text-2-Screen Platform for Concerts And Events
EVANSTON, Ill. --(Business Wire)-- Aug. 9, 2004 -- Chicago's Tweeter Center Utilizes Interactive Text Messaging to Promote Brand Awareness and Excitement for Summer Concert Series
"Downtime," the long, empty minutes before an act takes the stage or in-between act changes at summer concerts and festivals, used to mean losing the audience's precious attention--valuable time for advertisers and brand marketers when every minute in front of a crowd of 20,000 people counts. This summer at Chicago's Tweeter Center, Vibes Media, a leading provider of interactive text message marketing programs, has been making the most of that downtime with Vibes Text-2-Screen(TM) messaging applications. During a recent show, more than 2,500 fans sent 5,354 text-to-screen messages in just 25 minutes.
Vibes Text-2-Screen turns any concert event into an interactive experience by receiving text messages from individuals' cell phones and displaying the messages in real time onto a large screen located on-stage. The program includes a reply message so that each participant receives a customized message from the artist or event sponsor. Vibes' Text-2-Screen improves sponsorship awareness by captivating the audience and displaying the brand prominently on the screen. The application has been employed successfully at concerts and clubs--in addition to the Tweeter Center--to help promoters, event sponsors and artists interact with the audience in real time.
"The most exciting thing about Text-2-Screen is the fact that the audience becomes a real part of the show, and that sort of interaction creates a unique user experience," said Rich Baylie, executive director, ClearChannel. "In addition to the increased interaction, the ability to automatically filter messages is also important, so very little time passes before a user's message is displayed for the audience. The result is an interactive experience that keeps the crowd engaged before the concert begins and between sets."
Vibes' patent-pending Text-2-Screen application receives text messages and passes them through a proprietary filter. The filter can be easily customized for specific events and even a particular sponsor. Brand-specific information or edits can be included in the filter to ensure specific forms of content can't get through; cleared messages are projected to a giant screen at the venue. The entire process takes less than 10 seconds from cell phone to message broadcast.
Text-2-Screen works across all wireless networks and with all handset manufacturers. Text-2-Screen has proven successful in not only captivating an audience but also getting them to interact; on average, more than 10% of the audience sends messages to the screen during a show. In addition to text messages, people can also send pictures from camera phones.
"Vibes Text-2-Screen technology allows marketers and wireless carriers to reach audiences on an all-important interactive level that captivates crowds and promotes brand awareness," said Alex Campbell, CEO, Vibes Media. "Even if only a percentage of the audience sends messages, 100 percent of them see the screen and end up interacting with the brand. It's the perfect means to target the concert goers, college students or other hard-to-reach demographics and creates an interactive experience through the use of text messaging, which continues to grow at a steady pace."
